"Fans of Veronica Roth’s Divergent, Marie Lu’s Legend, and Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games series: your next obsession has arrived."-School Library Journal
Note: This book is a mix of fantasy and science fiction with the ability to transport oneself to other locations, and maybe even a dash of steampunk towards the end. Action and adventure, secrets and betrayals, who's really good or not make it a solid read and the series has promise.

Red Queen, book one of the Red Queen Trilogy by Victoria Aveyard
"Graceling meets The Selection
in debut novelist Victoria Aveyard's sweeping tale of
seventeen-year-old Mare, a common girl whose once-latent magical power
draws her into the dangerous intrigue of the king's palace. Will her
power save her or condemn her?"
Mare Barrow's world is divided by
blood—those with common, Red blood serve the Silver- blooded elite, who
are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a
thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in
front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles,
she discovers she has an ability of her own. To cover up this impossibility,
the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and
betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the
Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the
Scarlet Guard—a growing Red rebellion—even as her heart tugs her in an
impossible direction. One wrong move can lead to her death, but in the
dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal.
Note: I think this one will be great for fans of the Hunger Games, Divergent and The Selection. Dystopian and magic. Intrigue, betrayals, romance and who is friend or foe? Thus far a great read- 1/2 way through.

Temple Boys by Jamie Buxton
Flea belongs to a gang of teenage
vagrants living in the shadow of the Temple, with no family and no home,
living on their wits and what they can beg or steal. The city is
crowded with visitors for Passover and governed by an uneasy alliance
between the Temple priests and the occupying Roman army, bringing talk
of miracles and revolution. Flea and his comrades latch onto the
newcomer in the hope that he'll offer them a secure home. As events
accumulate and powerful forces gather around the Magician, Flea notices
rumblings of discontent among his followers, and finds himself torn
between one of them—the protective Jude, who employs Flea to run
errands—and a brutal Roman spy determined to uncover the Magician's
plans.
Is the Magician the savior he
claims to be, or a fraud? Does Flea hold the fate of the Magician—and
possibly the world—in his hands, as he begins to believe? Temple Boys
vividly conjures up ancient Jerusalem and the Biblical era and boldly
re-imagines the western world's most famous story from the point of view
of a teenage boy.
